For over a decade, brothers Tony Levin (bass) and Pete Levin (keys) have been delighting jazz lovers as The Levin Brothers—a dynamic quartet originally formed as a tribute to the elegant 1950s stylings of Oscar Pettiford and Julius Watkins. Today, their sound has evolved into a compelling blend of nostalgic cool jazz, soulful originals, and reimagined covers of Peter Gabriel, Steely Dan, Paul Simon, Ralph Towner, and more.
From intimate clubs to major jazz festivals, The Levin Brothers have kept their sound fresh by rotating a stellar lineup of guest musicians over the years, including Erik Lawrence, David Spinozza, Jeff Ciampa, Ali Ryerson, and Ken Gioffre. In recent tours, they’ve found a perfect musical match with saxophone virtuoso Pat LaBarbera and drummer Joe LaBarbera—forming a powerhouse quartet of two pairs of brothers, naturally named “Band of Brothers.”
In January 2024, Band of Brothers hit the road for a 14-show West Coast tour, stretching from Southern California to Vancouver and ending in Seattle. By the tour's end, the band was truly on fire—and now, they’re bringing that same magic our way and including sax virtuoso Pat La Barbera. For years Pat was a featured soloist with the Buddy Rich band, as well as a member of Elvin Jones' quartet.
This Caffè Lena performance is part of a Northeast spring tour that marks a long-awaited return for The Levin Brothers. With Tony back from his global tour with Peter Gabriel and Stickmen, and Pete fresh off his European gigs with the Gil Evans Remembered Band, the group is thrilled to reunite and rekindle the spark that’s made them fan favorites in both jazz and progressive music circles.
Expect a night of musical mastery, brotherly banter, and deep grooves from four world-class players who bring decades of experience—and a whole lot of heart—to every performance.
